watch this old ikea staple transform:

 

ceiling medallions as a wall treatment - fantastic~

achieved by caulking

cut out photocopies meet thin layer of elmers glue, meet ceiling.

lastly, I am SO tempted to do this, only if I had the time... tufted headboard!!

 you will need a peg board and 3" foam as the foundation.

 

you then painfully sew and tug the buttons which you also make to match

 

start from the center and work your way out,

carefully wrapping the edges nicely as well.

maybe one day, or one of you will try it!!

p.s. our moving date is set~ saturday is D-day

DiY - textured nails

 

  

don't be sad if you can't jump on ciate's caviar nails bandwagon because it's sold out.

just mix clear polish with microbeads:

 I haven't tried it yet, but I do wonder how it must feel to pick your nose with it..

..just sayin

DiY - marni for h&m, collar

1 of 2 of my mary kat for topshop packages arrived!! :D

thank god I stumbled on the website that morning,

because I found out topshop is only letting customers purchase 1 item in their soho store :/

 

 next collab?? marni for h&m~

unlike the topshop collection, this collection will be much more affordable~

however, I don't think I can let myself go through the headache of trying to get my hands on it.
...solution - a DiY!!

my fave piece was their collar, that gave the finishing touch to the styling:

here's how:

 I used a fun, sparkly scrap fabric from my collection.
I placed a choker necklace on top to outline the neckline.

 I cut out half of the pattern in the collar shape.

 next, I went in and outlined half the neckline, following the choker.

 it's hard to see, but I folded the shape, so I can trace it exactly in half.



 what the pattern looks like flat
this fabric is great because I don't need to sew the edges.
otherwise, you may need to make two of these and sew the edges closed.

hand sew on grois grain ribbon to finish it up

I want to make it in white and a few more colors~
but I totally procrastinated the accounting work I need to do today to make this...
so they will have to wait~~~

DiY - bookshelf makeover

when we moved in together,

he insisted on keeping his old bookshelf, and put his foot down about replacing it..

a few months pass, and I still can't stand how it doesn't blend into our apartment.

so a few weeks ago, I decided to paint it.

here's the after:

 

I left the insides the original dark brown color, but I like the unique end result!

I did it with a white trim look, because I didn't want the books to possibly get stuck on the paint job.

  

lucky for me, when I drag him to anthropologie with me,

he doesn't join the other bored boyfriends on the couch, he actually enjoys the store~

so we picked up these candle holders together. I couldn't believe they were on sale for $19.99,

because I think these are very "jonathan adler"-esque and even prettier~

more decorations

 

after - the room feels so much more fresh and open

with the white bookshelf blending into the walls

before: it felt gloomy.....

 

how to do it - preferably get house paint or acrylic paint of your choice.

I didn't use primer, but have the sales associate guide you.

blue painters tape is a must for clean lines! cover the areas you don't want to paint.

make sure you protect your walls and floor!!

consider all the details - I moved the snoopy collage to the same wall as the bookshelf

and painted the frame white to match
