givenchy scarves

when joyce saw the painting in my apt - ..remember my givenchy obsession?
of course she let me know the next day that the scarves were on gilt~

I was in a meeting, so I called the hubs and asked him to buy me two before they were gone -
one for spring/summer and one for fall/winter :)
I wore them with a studded headband (from urban outfitters)
and bracelet to match the "stud" theme on the scarves

here they are open:
yes, I love the pantherrrs, but - when they are folded, it's just mush.
so I got these for the great borders and colors.

next? - I spy their tote~ but I will have to pass :( $$$

... or wait for them on gilt? :)

valentine bride

it being valentines day, reminded me of a hair recommendation!

tanja@valentinebride.net

I told her about my previous "traumatic experience", but she was highly recommended
so now I can rest assure and have one less thing to stress about.

and she is the sweetest! when I told her we're on a tight budget
and how I was only planning on getting my bridesmaids and mothers' hair done,
she was kind enough to do my hair for free!

please use her for your events, she's made wedding planning fun for me again :)

cherry red

 ooh. la la.

beautiful

but christmas is the last thing on my mind!

I am totally the antithesis of fabulous - ate shake shack and broke out instantly.
panic + hub's sweats = can't wait until next month~
I'm afraid I have too many new ideas that I won't be able to manage.

my routine

clemence said: please do a post on your beauty and skincare routine! also hair!

SKINCARE
hi! besides your usual face lotion and eye cream, I use these 2 products beforehand:
I concern a lot of people when they see my routine, and now that I'm getting older,
I have to listen to the experts!!

so my friend, jasmine, from shiseido gave me this serum. (the bottle is so pretty too)
and my mom, who's skin is glowing at her age, gave me a pack of these vitamin c drops.

this is the only LA MER product I own.
nancy gave me the lip balm for xmas one year, and it is the best.
I smack some on in the morning, and it lasts all day.
I tried my husband's chap stick a few times and it's gross and doesn't compare!!

HAIR
I like to shower at night before bed, and let my hair basically dry as I sleep.
in doing so, I wake up with major bed head, and good volume.
problem is, you actually look like you haven't showered, because your hair is knotty.

so I hit it with the curler - mine is conair, 1.5" - to smooth the ends!
trim your hair often if you do this, because it's not healthy for your hair.

I have a beautiful and elegant friend, who looks bad with volume,
so she tries to keep it flat on top, straight at the ends and just below shoulder length.
experiment and find what works for you~ =)

BEAUTY
I usually focus on my eyes + because I got my eyelashes done for the engagement shoot,
I haven't been wearing much additional makeup since - they last several weeks.
I think long lashes make the biggest difference~~
when I go out out, I'll still wear some eyeliner on the ends.

it's been so refreshing to let my skin breathe the last month~
but before I leave the apt, I put on concealer under my eyes.
L'Oreal true match, I just picked it up from duane reade.

what I found ironically the most dramatic, is a little touch of lip gloss goes a long way!
this is especially true for winter, or if you are going light on the eyes.
I love/hate my givenchy lip gloss. I love the application.
I hate how it oozes when it's closed. dangerous for throwing in your purse.
will be getting a different brand when I'm done with it.

the "updo"

so I was bringing a few of your top picks to the salon,
but - on the way~~~ I saw this magazine in the window:

all that effort made no difference... it was the worst experience...
and that is why I never go to a salon!!!
I undid my $80 hair do as soon as I got home. (including tip- ugh). never. again.

I wish I took a photo of how it came out~~~ but I was so grossed out I couldn't bear it!!!
it was bad even for a 13 year old's birthday party~..
I totally have a newfound respect for hollywood stylists~~~

pick-a-do

if you remember this post, I finally tried it on today~
(I would also like to take this time to take back saying planning is easy)

the "wedding dress" was denied by my mom,
so I am going to wear it for my engagement shoot instead.

problem is - it requires an updo. I'm so much more comfortable with my hair down,
and I'm worried the photos won't come out well with my hair up..

anyway~ the last time I got my hair "done" was for prom.
so help me pick a picture to show the hair stylist for my engagement shoot~
I like the looser styles because my right ear sticks out =P

"high/low/side", "center/side/no part", "neat/messy", "straight/wavy/curly", "loose ends", etc~~

I can't pull the slick back look because of my lop sided ears.. so don't pick this one!!

(I like this hair style from when I was "young")

after the wedding, I'm going to chop my hair, get bangs, and dye it brown again!
fresh for the honeymoon =)

rollas

I'm researching how to do a good updo for sunday. I is so scared..

what to wear - accessorize LBD

Maryann has left a new comment on your post "cat in a hat":

Hey Trish,
Question!!! Advice!!
I don't have the time to shop for a dress to wear at a wedding this coming Saturday.
What I have in my wardrobe right now is a plain black strapless dress knee length.
How can I accessorize to jazz things up. Hope you can help!

hi maryann - the little black dress!!
I have a plan B black dress that I've worn 50 times, with different accessories.
there are so many ways to wear it, let's see how some celebs/runways have worked it.
I've also selected aldo shoes, and j.crew jewelry, as examples - for their easy access.

sexy nude shoes, and a simple bracelet - she is really letting her face and body shine.
nude shoes really extend your legs - especially if your dress is knee length.
for this look, I'd jazz up the nude pump, assuming your dress is not sequin like angelina's.
(I think I want to get that last aldo shoe! miu miu-esque)

classic black on black - but what I like about their black shoes,
is that they are breaking up the solid blacks

the up do - shoulders are sexy~~
do all your drama in the hair with nude lips

j.crew's sexy and nude color necklaces

if you are busty like kim, you can ditch the necklace and go bold with earrings.
or I'm sure any belt in your closet will be a fun accent, like khloe's.
a clutch is ideal for weddings and parties.

or try wearing a bright color on your lips with soft hair and bling on your wrists

and be inspired to try something out of the ordinary~~ :)
hope you have a fun time at the wedding~ thanks for asking!
